Ken "Slims" Sims

Ken “Slims” was born to Malcomb and Elise on August 8, 1948, in Pine Bluff Arkansas, and got to Texas as fast as he could. Ken passed away Sunday, April 20, 2008 in Webster, Texas from cancer. Ken was a Deputy Sheriff with the Galveston County Sheriffs office for 12 years. Prior to law enforcement, he was a skilled welder known to many in the area. He also served in the United States Army.
Ken is survived by his wife, Laura Lewis Sims, and in-laws, Gail and Harold Ray Watson of Bullard, Texas. Jay and Kay Lewis of Cuero, Texas. His extended family, his girls, Annette, Abby, Andie, Buffy, and Hope, the members of Galveston County Sheriffs Office, Blue Knights Texas XXXI, LEMC, and many many friends.

Ken was avid motorcyclist and a charter member of the Blue Knights Texas XXXI LEMC. He also loved fishing, animals, and the outdoors. Many will remember his generosity and helping hands.
Respecting Ken’s wishes he will be cremated and there will be no formal service. There will be a casual gathering of friends and family Thursday, April 24, 2008 from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the Knights of Columbus, 501 Delany Road, LaMarque, Texas with a Toasting beginning at 5 P.M. with food and beverages. Memorials may be made in Ken’s name to Blue Knights Texas XXXI, P O Box 16685, Galveston, Texas 77562 or to American Cancer Society.
