Ken Roland

Kenneth F. Roland, 59, Mexico, died at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at his residence. He was born April 9, 1951, in Dayton, Ohio, to Joseph W. and Viola B. (Bollheimer) Roland. Although they are divorced now, he and Beth were married for 37 years.

He was the Miami County sheriff for eight years and served with the Indiana State Police for 28 years. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, a charter member of the Mexico Lion’s Club, and a member of Peru Maennerchor, Knights of Columbus, Blue Knight’s Motorcycle Club and QB flying club. He is survived by his sons, Matthew J. (Anna) Roland, St. Louis, Mo., and Brian P. Roland, Whitefish, Mont.; three grandchildren, Alexander, Gavin and Kennedy; brothers, Ronald W. (Karen) Roland, McKinney, Texas, Daniel P. (Jan) Roland, Wabash, and Timothy J. Roland, McAllen, Texas; and sister, Lois Ann (Al) Turner, Westminster, Md. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Charles Catholic Church, 58 W. Fifth St., Peru, with the Rev. Francis I. Kilcline II officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis. Friends may call from noon to 7 p.m. Monday at the Miami County Community building, located on the Miami County fairgrounds. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wabash-Miami County Home Health and Hospice and/or to your favorite charity in memory of Kenny. Arrangements are entrusted to Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru.
