SPRINGFIELD, ILL- Henry Lee Wahl, 68, of Springfield, died at 5:05 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center.
Lee was born July 18, 1944 in Springfield, the son of Henry and Margaret Knoles Wahl. He married Karen Stockton on July 18, 1994 in Springfield.
Lee spent 36 years in law enforcement working for Leland Grove, Jerome, and Carpentersville Police Departments. He also worked for the Sangamon County Sherriff's Department for 24 years. Lee proudly served our country in the U.S. Army and Illinois Army National Guard for 13 years. He was the founder and past President of Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, Chapter IL XV. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lake Lodge, American Legion Post #32 and a life member of NRA. One of Lee's favorite past times was riding motorcycles with fellow club members.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Wahl of Springfield; one son, Michael Wahl of Springfield; four daughters, Loretta (Jim) Urban of New Berlin, Laura
(Tim) Wilkerson of Girard, and Keri Wahl and Sheri Wahl both of Little Rock, AR; several grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Danny; three sisters, Grace, Eleanor, and Sis; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and two dogs, Missy and Sissy.
Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life from 12:00-5:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at the Aqua Sports Club, 1 Club Area, Springfield.
