George W. Garo
Transferred from NJ XI

George Garo

GEORGE W. GARO transferred to Heaven I on Tuesday, June 13, 2006. George was born on Dec. 25th, 1928 in Thune, Switzerland, and came to America in 1954, settling in the Tottenville section of Staten Island before moving to Howell in 1964.

He was a veteran of the Grenadier Swiss Army. He was a charter member of the Howell Police Department since before the formation of the full-time police force. He was currently a part-time Class II police officer for the Howell Police Department and was a member of the Blue Knights - New Jersey Chapter XI. George has been a member of Blue Knights NJ XI since 1998. For those of us who were privileged to have known him, George was known to all as the gentlest man with the firm handshake and sincere eyes. A gentleman in the truest sense of the word. A man with a soft voice and captivating smile.

He was a proud member of the Blue Knights. God Bless You George. Rest in peace our Brother. Surviving are his wife, Tania Solenko Garo; a daughter, Randy Lee Garo of Tucson, Ariz.; many cousins in Switzerland; his adopted children, Natasha and George Brick of Jackson; his adopted grandchildren, Walter and Elena Brick of Jackson; and his good friend, Robert Browne of Howell.
