CARR, Albert Barton 79, of East Sandwich, passed away July 1, 2014 at Cape Cod Hospital. A native of Roslindale, MA. Al, or Bart as he was called by family, resided in E. Sandwich, MA for 30 years and spent his winters in Naples, FL since the early 1990s.

He is survived by his supportive and loving wife of 51 years, Roseanne (Kelley), and his two devoted daughters, Kelly and her husband Eben Lenz of Milton, MA and Lynne and her husband Robert Belliveau of Naples, FL. He was cherished by his four grandchildren, Benjamin (Al) Lenz, Max Lenz, Josie Belliveau and Juliette Belliveau. He is also survived by two sisters, Helen Asbury and her husband Carl of Middleboro, MA and Kathryn Coull of Brockton, MA as well as 23 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Elizabeth Ann (nee Tucker) and Albert C. Carr, and his sister Betty Daly.

Bart was a proud veteran in the U.S. Navy serving at bases in Naples, Italy and Port Lyautey, French Morocco, during the Korean Conflict. After serving his country, Bart had a long and distinguished career with the Massachusetts Department of Correction and retired in 1990 as Deputy Director of Special Operations. He spent as much time as he could relaxing with the "Cape cousins", riding his Goldwing motorcycle with the Blue Knights and the GoldWing Roadriders Assoc., serving the community as a lifetime member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 9444 in Sandwich, MA, boating privately and participating in activities with U.S.C.G. Aux. Flotilla 93 in Naples, FL and traveling with his wife and friends, where he seemed to always run into someone he knew. He was also a longtime friend of Bill W.

Bart will be remembered for his balanced sense of strength and fairness, his commitment to care for others, his entertaining jokes and memorable stories, and his penchant for cooking and sharing his culinary tips and tricks. He was larger than life. Bart loved hosting and attending a good party with family and friends. An abundance of memories will keep Bart potent and present in the lives of those who knew and loved him. A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday July 10, 2014 from 4 - 8pm at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home 154 Route 6A Sandwich, MA. Bart's extraordinary life will be celebrated in a Funeral Mass on Friday July 11, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church in E. Sandwich, MA. Interment with military honors rendered in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Albert's name to the American Heart Association 300 5th Ave. Suite 6 Waltham, MA 02451 or a charity of your choice .
